about the book

North Carolina Simon hates her name. As a fourteen-year-old girl growing up in the 1970s, she has a lot of challenges. People not only make fun of her name, but also scoff at her eccentric family. Dad’s a hoarder, Mom’s an unpredictable artist, and her older sister lives with an autism diagnosis. After a humiliating middle school event shatters her confidence as a singer, North determines to break free from the stigma surrounding her family.

As she starts high school, North tells people to call her Carol. Armed with a new name, she updates her appearance, befriends a popular boy in hopes of joining his band, distances herself from her two longtime friends, and avoids being seen with her adoring and dependent sister. Everything seems to be going according to plan until her sister suddenly disappears. Carol is forced to face reality. Should she continue to focus all her time and energy on fitting in or should she surrender to God’s calling on her life?

Finding True North is a prequel to Sticks and Stones, but each can be read as stand-alone novels.

about the author

Dianne Beck has spent most of her career teaching students ranging from kindergarten through adult and currently works as a high school youth director at her church. In each of these roles, she hopes to encourage students to be their own unique selves, to have confidence in who they are, and to follow their passions.  Dianne’s debut young adult novel Sticks and Stones, winner of multiple awards, was inspired by her years of teaching, where she saw how an understanding ear and relevant literature could make a significant impact on students’ lives. She hopes young people and adults can find faith and strength in her stories.

about the book

Sometimes, wishes do come true…

Brooke Weatherby is tired of being the dependable one, the boring one of everyone at Sanderling Cove. She agreed to come to the cove for the summer unaware her two cousins, Charlotte “Charlie” Bradford and Olivia “Livy” Winters, would also be there to help manage The Sanderling Cove Inn while her grandparents take a long road trip in Europe. More than anything, she wishes for independence from her role as a sometime caretaker of her mother, so she’s free to find true love.

Unknown to her and her cousins, the five grandmothers at Sanderling Cove have invited their beloved grandchildren to spend as much time as possible this summer at the cove, hoping that romance might flourish among them.

One grandson, Dylan Hendrix, is a well-known artist who decides to take a break from Santa Fe and experiment with different kinds of paintings inspired by the scenic Gulf Coast of Florida. As he and Brooke get to know each other, he encourages her to discover her own artistic talent. Brooke’s world opens to colors and possibilities she never dreamed of as her life begins to change.

Grandmothers can be very determined when it comes to seeing their grandchildren happy. A family saga full of love. Be sure to read all the books in the series – Waves of Hope, Sandy Wishes, Salty Kisses.

about the author

Judith Keim, A USA Today Best-Selling Author, is a hybrid author who both has a publisher and self-publishes. Ms. Keim writes heart-warming novels about women who face unexpected challenges, meet them with strength, and find love and happiness along the way, stories with heart. Her best-selling books are based, in part, on many of the places she's lived or visited and on the interesting people she's met, creating believable characters and realistic settings her many loyal readers love.

She enjoyed her childhood and young-adult years in Elmira, New York, and now makes her home in Boise, Idaho, with her husband and their two domineering dachshunds, Winston and Wally, and other members of her family.

While growing up, she was drawn to the idea of writing stories from a young age. Books were always present, being read, ready to go back to the library, or about to be discovered. All in her family shared information from the books in general conversation, giving them a wealth of knowledge and vivid imaginations.

When she’s not writing, which isn’t that often, she enjoys an evening glass of red wine and her husband’s creative cooking and always loves spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Keim loves to hear from her readers and appreciates their enthusiasm for her stories.

about the book

When Detective Winston Radhauser’s phone rings in the middle of the night, he knows something terrible has happened. On this night, a homeless man, rummaging for food in a local dumpster, finds the body of a severely beaten young woman. On scene, Radhauser estimates the victim to be in her early twenties. He's overcome when he learns the forensics reveal she is the girl whose disappearance has haunted him for three years--Ava Cartwright.

In broad daylight, Ava's bicycle had been found parked with the kickstand down near a wooded area. Search parties inched their way through every portion of those woods, the neighborhood, nearby Lithia Park, and along miles of railroad tracks, but there was no sign of the little girl.

Where has she been all this time? And why was she dumped on the eve of her thirteenth birthday? There must be something, some tiny detail, he missed that will give him a lead. This time, Radhauser won’t quit until he finds it.

about the author

Susan Clayton Goldner became fascinated with books and writing as a young child. Her first publication came when she was ten. It was a poem on the back of a church bulletin. Perhaps seeing her name in print prompted her to pursue that love and become a novelist. Susan shares a life in Grants Pass, Oregon and Tucson, Arizona with her partner, John Carter, her fictional characters, and more books than one person could count. When she isn’t writing—which isn’t often—Susan likes to make stained glass windows and quilts. She says it’s a little bit like writing—telling stories with fabric and glass.

About the Book

‘Are these my thoughts or yours?’ I asked.

‘It doesn’t matter,’ said the Sun.  ‘You are me and I am you….’

The Book of the Sun is a record of the conversations between the author and the Sun.  It concerns the structure of the living universe, why it is so difficult here, and why we should all begin to realize that we are all one, and yet diverse at the same time.  It answers many questions that have concerned minds throughout the millennia.  Why are we here?  Why is there suffering?  What is the future for us?  These questions and many more are answered with many surprises for the reader.

This is a god- the Sun, speaking to us through this book – who has contacted us before in Ancient Egypt, the Americas and many other places.  But the message now is that there is no separation, so the Sun is very concerned that we should not make a religion out of this contact.  Religions are based on hierarchies, rules and judgments, and the Sun’s message is not only that we are one but that love and light is the only reality, with a spicing of laughter.

About the Author

Jenny Rook was born in Essex, UK and educated at York University, where she graduated with a degree in English and Music. Studying the greats of literature called a halt to her burgeoning desire to write. After various adventures in: the scrap trade; bookselling; helping run an employment agency; and having children, she settled back into her first love, writing. Her first fiction book Fly By Night (1989) was accepted by Headline, the first publisher she sent it to. This was the first of a fantasy trilogy and Headline wanted all three. All her fiction books are published under the name Jenny Jones. Two adult ghost novels followed, Where the Children Cry (1998) and The Blue Manor (1995) both published by Gollancz. Five other fantasy/horror books for teenagers were published by Scholastic (1994, 1995, 1997), Hodder (1995) and Orion (2000).

In 2006, Jenny qualified as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist for children and their families. She worked mainly for the NHS and also volunteered for Sure Start (a UK government initiative to help with the early stages in a mother and baby’s relationship), before taking early retirement to look after her elderly mother. Jenny now lives with her husband, mother, and three dogs in the Cotswolds and writes nonfiction.
