About the Book

Domestic Silence by Tut Yashar is a powerful poetry collection that gives voice to the quiet battles many endure but rarely share. Written over the span of 18 months, these poems weave a deeply personal yet universal journey of survival and resilience in seek of liberation.

Through raw honesty and lyrical rhythm, Tut Yashar explores themes of love, loss, injustice, silence and happiness. At its heart, this book reflects the emotional reality of abuse—not only the pain itself but also the loneliness, judgment, and shame that often follow. Each poem is both confession and release, inviting readers to feel seen, validated, and less alone in their own struggles.

Domestic Silence is not just about one story—it is about many. It speaks to anyone who has felt trapped, silenced, or invisible, whether by circumstances, relationships, or society. It reminds us that healing is possible, that freedom can be reclaimed, and that our voices deserve to be heard.

Whether you are a survivor, an ally, or someone seeking deeper understanding of the human condition, this book offers hope, comfort, courage, and connection.

About the Author

Tut Yashar is a poet and advocate for self-fulfillment whose words shine a light on the hidden corners of the human experience. With a background in law, finance and operations, she blends analytical precision with raw emotional honesty to create poetry that resonates deeply with readers. Writing has been her lifelong companion, a source of healing, and a way to transform pain into strength.

Her work explores themes of freedom, resilience, love, and the silent struggles we often carry alone. Tut’s poetry speaks to anyone who has ever felt unseen, unheard, or silenced—reminding them that they are not alone and that healing is possible. Domestic Silence is her debut published collection, and she is also the author of two forthcoming poetry books. Through her writing, Tut strives to inspire readers to embrace their voice, reclaim their power, and discover self-fulfillment in the face of life’s challenges.

Read Excerpts from the Book

I am not a symphony

My brain is complete cacophony.

Don’t come into my head

If you know what’s good for you.

You’ll wind up both deaf and mad.

I could be a figurine

As long as the figurine you mean

Is the Venus of Willendorf.

She’s only 4.4 inches tall,

But just like Rosie, she’s got it all.

I am not a ballet.

If I even tried to play

At spinning pretty pirouettes

I’d wind up face-down on the floor;

Trust me, you don’t want to see more.

I am not a sonnet

About an Easter bonnet.

I could be a country song

About a love that’s gone all wrong.

That’s what romance has been for me.

I’m not what anyone wants me to be,

But I must accept being just me

Before the sun goes down on my life

And it’s too late for affirmation

Of the fine qualities I possessed.

Ornery Owl is a wise old bird who seeks the truth behind the lies. She uses her observations to heal the wounded soul. In essence, she is the spirit of an odd little bird whose wings were clipped at a young age. She is at once a whimsical manifestation of poetic expression and a fierce protector of those targeted for derision by an angry and unsympathetic world. Depending on how you perceive her, she can be either a goddamned delight or your worst nightmare.

Read an Excerpt

Hands of the Clock

Beloved, when I'm with you

the hands of the clock tremble.

Your beauty stuns them

and their raison d'etre disappears through a crack in time

like the intoxicated bee whose ecstatic nectar-drinking

made him forget to fly before the lotus blossom closed for the evening.

I too am in No Man’s Land after tasting you.

Like the hands of the clock, your beauty has stopped a thing within me.

I only seem fit to write rogue love poems

and sing tavern songs of intoxication and wonder.

Please give me another job

because, like the clock hands, my own raison d'etre

seems lost in the crack between waking and dream,

that majestic ocean of silence

stretching past infinity—

holding a silly bubble afloat

until it is no more.

About the Book

A deeper level of consciousness can only be birthed from a space of darkness, the void of all possibility, as all of life has arisen from nothingness. Such is the paradox of awakening. When you find yourself held in suspension, and when you are catapulted out of everything you know to be true, it is easy to forget the truth of who you really are.

However, no matter the outer experiences, your innermost essence is unchangeable.

A sense of isolation and separation are undoubtedly facets of the dark night, but in reality you are never alone. Many people have walked this path before you, there are those who are currently engulfed in its midst and those who will follow.

The pieces in this book landed as my own journey through the wilderness. Each fragment is a lived experience, and each lived experience is a mentor.

I offer you these words as your companion while you transition through your own inner shadows…may they provide comfort as you move through the deepest levels of release and find your way home, to a self-compassion you never knew existed.
