About the Book

Claire will stop at nothing to provide for her daughters. An unwed mother, she does everything possible to raise them whilst avoiding her scandalous past. Some secrets are best kept, even between mother and daughter.

Alice longs for a father, especially if that means her mother will be happy. She takes matters into her own hands—but she never expected what she finds.

Despite her efforts to shelter her daughters, Claire’s ghosts rise up to haunt her, and any semblance of control over her life vanishes. If her secrets are uncovered, what will become of her family?

My Review

The Dressmaker's Secret Begins the Series. The author brings readers into her characters' stories by introducing various characters and some secrets, revelations, and challenges. Set in a time when unwed mothers were scandalous, the author tells Claire's story with an air of secrecy and suspense that captures reader interest and holds it through to the end.

The Dressmaker's Secret is a Clean Historical Novel with a Christian Element. The Dressmaker's Secret is a book that I could share with my daughters--and one that my grandmother would have enjoyed as well. It is impossible not to root for Claire, Alice, and Ivy! I enjoyed that there is an element of romance, life lessons to learn, and some spiritual, faith-filled lessons. It is an enjoyable introduction to the characters and a well-paced, historically placed, dramatic plot for readers to follow.

Would I Recommend The Dressmaker's Secret by Kellyn Roth? I truly enjoyed the characters in this book. I would definitely recommend it to women's fiction fans who enjoy Victorian-era novels that are both clean and entertaining--while offering a bit of God's Plan and faith as well.

I look forward to following the series' characters through future novels and recommend beginning the series with this first book.
