My Review

Ivy Introspective Continues the Series. This book definitely continues the series--and doesn't give readers many "catch-up" details. The story jumps right into the continuation--so if you didn't read the first book or you have had some time between readings, you may feel a little lost and left behind. Having said that, if you are reading the story in order, expect to move right into Ivy's Introspective and a series of new characters and plot lines.

Ivy Introspective Combines Christian Fiction and Historical Fiction for Women. I felt that the first book was suitable for younger teens and would have been light enough for my grandmother to have enjoyed. This novel is a little more complex with some deeper, darker looks at life and mental health and special needs issues in Victorian times. It may not appeal to the same fans of lighter women's fiction novels.  Readers who enjoy Christian fiction will enjoy some of the Bible story re-telling and the emotions of life through Ivy's perspectives. There are many subplots and new characters for readers to explore and find something to love within.

Would I Recommend Ivy Introspective by Kellyn Roth? The storyline of this novel is a little deeper and more emotional than that of the first novel. I think I enjoyed the strength and connections of the characters in this book more than the first. I would definitely recommend it to women's fiction fans who enjoy Victorian-era novels that offer a blend of spirituality, faith, hope, and reality. This book series is definitely a series to read from the beginning and in order.
