Read an Excerpt

Hands of the Clock

Beloved, when I'm with you

the hands of the clock tremble.

Your beauty stuns them

and their raison d'etre disappears through a crack in time

like the intoxicated bee whose ecstatic nectar-drinking

made him forget to fly before the lotus blossom closed for the evening.

I too am in No Man’s Land after tasting you.

Like the hands of the clock, your beauty has stopped a thing within me.

I only seem fit to write rogue love poems

and sing tavern songs of intoxication and wonder.

Please give me another job

because, like the clock hands, my own raison d'etre

seems lost in the crack between waking and dream,

that majestic ocean of silence

stretching past infinity—

holding a silly bubble afloat

until it is no more.

About the Book

A deeper level of consciousness can only be birthed from a space of darkness, the void of all possibility, as all of life has arisen from nothingness. Such is the paradox of awakening. When you find yourself held in suspension, and when you are catapulted out of everything you know to be true, it is easy to forget the truth of who you really are.

However, no matter the outer experiences, your innermost essence is unchangeable.

A sense of isolation and separation are undoubtedly facets of the dark night, but in reality you are never alone. Many people have walked this path before you, there are those who are currently engulfed in its midst and those who will follow.

The pieces in this book landed as my own journey through the wilderness. Each fragment is a lived experience, and each lived experience is a mentor.

I offer you these words as your companion while you transition through your own inner shadows…may they provide comfort as you move through the deepest levels of release and find your way home, to a self-compassion you never knew existed.

TRIFOLD MIRROR is a collection of personal, insightful poems that reflect on the intentionality and individuality of the author's relationship with God. The poems apply biblical principles, which help demystify the complexities of Christian doctrines and empower readers to study the Word of God for themselves.

This contemporary collection is inspired by the Holy Spirit and addresses different life stages (as seen in the "hood" section - which features dark pages in the book). Each poem has its own personality, emotion, teaching, and Bible verse to reinforce the poem.

About the Author

She holds a doctorate in Pharmacy, a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and a bachelor's in Biomedical Sciences. Poetry Spotlight: 18 Golf Poems by Ronald Colby

Today, I have a poetry collection in our book spotlight!  Check out 18 Golf Poems, learn about author Robert Colby & enter the book tour giveaway at the end of this post!

Book Title:  18 Golf Poems and A Recollection at the 19th Hole by Ronald Colby
Category:  Adult Non-Fiction,  54 pages
Genre:  Poetry
Publisher:  The Colby Company
Release date:   2022
Content Rating:  G for everyone.

Reviews for Ron Colby's novel, Night Driver, published by Rare Bird Literary, (January 2018):

“Colby has written a novel of relentless energy. While driving a cab at night, his main character hunts his wife’s killers through LA’s dark streets of dreams and nightmares. It’s tense, episodic, complete, and compelling. It’s quite a ride.” ― Francis Ford Coppola, director of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now

"Colby’s well-paced first novel takes the reader on a winding, exhilarating ride through late-1970s Los Angeles." ― Publishers Weekly

“Big news: Ron Colby’s Night Driver is a contemporary noir novel that deserves a place next to Chandler, Connolly, and Wambaugh. The story of a man who drives a taxi through the night streets of Los Angeles searching for his wife’s killers makes an exciting, original and hard-to-put-down book. Colby knows his turf, his characters and he gets everything right.” ― Michael Eliasauthor of The Last Conquistador

About the Book

Anxiety and fear seek to prey on the damaged and create heavy burdens that scar the soul, being heartless and insensitive to the lost, unkempt, and broken-spirited in a troubled, unwholesome world. However, they do not reign for eternity, as faith, resilience, and empowerment remain planted from within to help overcome pressing obstacles, regardless of how difficult they may be. Peace in the Midst of the Storm primarily focuses on the beauty of positivity, selflessness, and honorable confidence that symbolizes the importance of light being present within darkness. This book also holds accountability in facing the realization that as life may prove frustrating at times, giving up is never an option! This shows that regardless of our mistakes, life does not promise us that we will remain positioned in negativity. What we were in our pasts will not seep into who we have grown to be as positive individuals. What we have now realized is that we often must prepare to speak victory over our storms and, as we continue to encourage ourselves to do that, we will overcome anything.
