About the Book

To speak of a modern Liberal Colossus conjures nothing less than the largest power structure the world has ever known. A distinctly (but not entirely) American phenomenon, this sprawling network of economic interests, political forces, and cultural influences revolves around four organically interconnected sectors - a domestic corporate oligarchy, authoritarian state apparatus, military-industrial complex, and (now in process) a reconstituted liberal (or "neoliberal") world order. Going back to the watershed presidency of Woodrow Wilson at the time of World War I, the overarching ideology that defines, legitimates, and sustains this Colossus has been one variant of liberalism, more precisely a combination of corporate and global liberalism.

For the past century the main pillars of this power structure have been continuously reinforced by great scientific and technological innovations in the economy, government, and military as well the international system. If ambitious planning within the World Economic Forum and other global institutions manages to achieve its unprecedented goals, that system will expand further -- toward what has been described as the Great Reset. This would be a global tyranny based on increasingly concentrated (and integrated) economic and governmental power. Here, in The Rise of the Liberal Colossus, Carl Boggs systematically explores the history, politics, and ideology of this frightening development, the biggest threat in modern times to the future of democratic society.

"Carl Boggs provides a sweeping historical and political treatise on the origins of the imperial state and its grounding in the liberal paradigm. The trajectory of global destruction begins begins, as Professor Boggs recounts, with the era of World War I and its aftermath and escalates to the present day under the regime of a global corporate order that has brought the world to the precipice of ecological and military disaster."

-- Professor Gerald Sussman, Global Studies, Portland State University

About the Book

An AMERICAN PATRIOT'S history lesson.

A book every American should own and read.

"The PEOPLE are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our LIBERTY." Thomas Jefferson

"A HOUSE DIVIDED against itself cannot stand." Abraham Lincoln

"FREEDOM of SPEECH is a principal pillar of a free government; When this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved, and TYRANNY is erected on its ruins." Benjamin Franklin

My Review

Join, or Die. Offers Exactly the Material Readers Should Expect. The author begins with a Patriot's history lesson as he presents the text or the various Oaths of Office,The Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence. He doesn't offer his commentary on those texts--he simply shares the words of the texts. Next--he presents a host of quotes, ranging from early American history to present-day speakers, politicians, leaders, and personalities. While not all of his selections come from Conservatives and Patriots--he highlights phrases from each quote that conform to the ideas he seeks to convey.

Reading with an Open Mind May Be Difficult. With strategically placed capitalization and text changes, the author creates a lot of directives on his pages to ensure that readers catch his desired takeaways. If you are far left-leaning--this book is not for you. If you are a middle-of-the-political road reader--this book may not be your cup of tea either. The presentation doesn't leave much open for personal interpretation. It is titled An American Patriot's Book of Quotes. It is that.

Would I Recommend Join, or Die by R. Blake Wilson? Setting my personal political views aside, this is a book for the American Patriot--and the author writes to that audience. It isn't a book to please every reader--it is one for the Patriot readers. I didn't personally love the presentation of the material--I felt too overly bombarded with capitalized FREEDOM, TYRANNY, LIBERTY--but, the author captured a variety of quotes and incorporated them effectively into his desired message for his target audience.

The far Left and the far Right are both wrong. They are lacking a clear definition of good.

The Breathe Free Principles book gives us something to agree on. It shows why good is what results from mutually beneficial interactions. Please use it in your life.

The Left and the Right are trying to use government power to force people to do what the Left or Right want. The use of force is the problem. The American ideal of Liberty in the pursuit of happiness is a wiser way. This book will help you clarify and communicate where you stand on such issues.

It makes for a great gift for your thinking friends.
